Abiding Assurance is a panoramic landscape from Sperati Point in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, captured with the world's most detail-rich medium format camera system as a multi-frame stitch. A soft atmospheric haze had settled over the Badlands overnight, and there was a real chance the conditions would be too heavy to photograph anything meaningful. But that is part of the work. You commit to the early alarm, the hour-long drive in the dark, the fifteen-minute hike to the overlook, and you accept whatever the Badlands give you.

When I arrived at Sperati Point, the haze was still there - but instead of obscuring the valley, it had softened everything.
